Heredia, Costa Rica has its own town center and is the largest city in the Province of Heredia. It also functions as a suburb of San Jose. Many people live in the hills of Heredia and commute into the city for work. It is also a short drive to the city of Alajuela.
From a retail perspective, the area around Paseo Las Flores is full of upscale establishments. Paseo Las Flores is a full sized commercial malls with multiple floors, movie theater and food court.
In the older town of Heredia, the blocks are tighter and the construction is older. Offices, restaurants and small retail are often found on the ground floor of older buildings that may have apartments above.
Outside of the city of Heredia, the density drops and you find office and industrial parks but also hotels and other entertainment areas in the hills with views of the Central Valley.
Moving towards San Jose, the main roads into the city are covered with car dealerships, hardware stores, offices and other establishments.
