Renting in Samara, Costa Rica is a nice option for a coastal town with the right mix of things to do without seeming busy or touristy. Located West of Nicoya on a paved road, Samara faces a bay with Carillo just south.
The beach at Samara is lovely and sheltered, only getting big waves during storms. Most of the time, it is pleasant for swimmig or long beach walks.
The town itself spreads from the beach inland for about five blocks before the elevation starts to rise into a series of green hills with ocean views. The town has a scattering of restaurants, small hotels and shops in the coastal section with some apartments available.
There are a couple small supermarkets so no need to go Nicoya, although that is an option where you can find Maxipali and other chain stores.
Access to the international airport is easy via Nicoya, Santa Cruz and then Liberia, all paved roads and well maintained for the most part.
In the hills, there are some nice ocean view homes and condos, many built during the real estate boom of the 2000s. These rental properties are still just a short walk to the beach.
Prices vary by location. Ocean views, size and quality of construction are considerations with regards to the price of renting long term in Samara. You can find options for any budget but since Samara has a touristic component, you will find the most vacancies during the heart of rainy season in September and October.
